travel: zürich (switzerland, part III)

After two weeks in Davos, we stopped by Zürich for a couple of days. The atmosphere of the two places are polar opposite—one is a bustling city of the financially-stable nation; the other, a pretty, relaxed small village at the foot of the Alps. Both are wonderful places in their own unique ways.

Zürich is located on the northwestern tip of Lake Zürich. Several river cruises are available for tourists to ride up the lake and view both sides of the city.The Fraumünster Church is one of the four main churches of Zürich, and it stands out among the city landscape with its green-blue tip that juts up into the sky. The streets of Zurich are lined with banks and particularly, Bahnhofstrasse, Zurich’s main downtown street, is one of the world’s most expensive and exclusive shopping avenues. Of course, I wasn’t able to buy anything there, but we did get one of the famous Swiss Army knives as a lil’ memento.

About half an hour out of Zurich is Lucerne, the city famous for its flower bridge, one of Switzerland’s main tourist attractions and features unique painted interior triangular frames. Since we only spent a day in Lucerne, we didn’t get to go visit other things in Lucerne, so maybe one day I’ll be able to go back and revisit Lucerne. After Lucerne, we took two days out of our schedule to stop by Tirano, Italy, so that’ll be coming up later this week! 🙂

    1. Thank you! And yes– the things there are definitely much more expensive than here in the US, especially the food. But at the end of the day, it’s definitely worth it! 😊

      1. Nice post! Cheap eats are hard to find but findable. Also, remember tipping is minimal here and food tax is less, so that decreases the final tab as well! But ultimately, the price you pay to eat here is the price you pay to visit here (live in my case). Totally worth it.

  6. Looks lovely! I was in Zurich last year in January, and although I had only one night there, it was not bad. Granted, I preferred Lucerne, though: should you ever choose to go back, there’s also the lion monument carved into a rock, which is worth a see!
