As the third most populated city in China, Guangzhou is also the best commercial city on the Chinese mainland, according to Forbes. In Zhujiang New Town, there are underground shopping malls, vehicular tunnels and towering skyscrapers.

At the southern end, Zhujiang (which, in Chinese, means Pearl River) hosts four newly built cultural venues of the city: the Guangzhou Opera House, the second Children’s Palace, the new Guangzhou Library and Guangdong Museum, both of which are architecturally impressive in their unique designs.North of these buildings are the Twin Towers (the Guangzhou International Finance Center and the Guangzhou Chow Tai Fook Finance Centre), and across the river stands the Canton Tower, which is the tallest structure in Guangzhou, and the second tallest building in China.
Visitors are able to go to the top of the Canton Tower, where you can see a 360 of the city, particuarly Zhujiang New Town. Even higher is the Bubble Tram, which encircles at the top of the tower at 455 meters high and is the world’s highest horizontal ferris wheel. It was raining when we arrived, so unfortunately, the ride was closed. On that note, be prepared to sweat like crazy in Guangzhou — the humidity reaches upwards of 80%, and after every trip outside, you’ll feel like you need a shower. But don’t let this deter you, for Guangzhou is most known for its food: as they say, the food is all in Guangzhou. (And stay tuned for a future post about that!)
Great pics!!

I’ve never been to Guangzhou, although I met a couple from there who offered me a place to stay should I ever come to visit…that, along with your magnificent photos, gives me all the more reason to go sooner! I look forward to more travel posts from you. 🙂

And that library looks like PCL 😉

LMAO I think the PCL is a tad uglier. But that’s really cool that you did a project in Guangzhou! It’s a really cool place 🙂
