dallas: hillstone restaurant

Hillstone Restaurant is a tried and true steakhouse in University Park, Dallas. I normally eat here for a weekend lunch every once in a while. However, it doesn’t matter if I’m coming in for lunch or dinner or whatever day I’m here – the food has always been high-quality. The Hillstone staff are also so warm and polite; they’re attentive and thoughtful individuals. Even though parking can be a hassle, there is a large parking lot and garage, so valet is not necessary here.

But let’s get to the food, shall we? For Hillstone’s appetizers, the House-Smoked Salmon is phenomenal; spreading some of the Chef’s Dressing on top of the salmon just ups the flavor. The Chilled Jumbo Shrimp and Spinach & Artichoke Dip are also both fantastic appetizers. Regardless of your preferences though, you can’t go wrong with any of their appetizers in my opinion.

Now for their entrees, you have to go with their House Specialties. I believe Hillstone Restaurant has the best filet in Dallas. Pairing their USDA Center-Cut Filet (medium-rare) with a Fully Loaded Idaho Baked Potato will give you an amazing meal. You won’t regret it I promise. I am also a huge fan of their Barbecue Pork Ribs – the sauce is delicious; the ribs are fall-off-the-bone tender; and they’re just great overall. The fries and coleslaw are nice additions as well. These are my two favorite entrees here by far, but the rest of the House Specialties are plenty good, too.

Last but not least, dessert! The Five-Nut Brownie is a decadent, delicious piece of sweetness. It has a palatable balance between a warm, chocolate brownie and a scoop of vanilla ice cream that crowns the brownie. Even more, the brownie is stuffed with chopped up macadamia nuts, walnuts, peanuts, pecans and almonds. Also, it’s topped-off with a drizzle of caramel sauce that is just so good. The Key-Lime Pie and Apple Walnut Cobbler are both great options as well, but I always go with the brownie unless I’m trying to spice things up.

If you catch yourself in Dallas sometime, definitely try this place out! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do 🙂
